In Memoriam: Dr. Christopher D. M. Fletcher

Dr. Christopher D.M. Fletcher was a visionary leader and dedicated volunteer for USCAP over the course his career. He served on the Board of Directors for 8 years, including one as its President, and dedicated many more years to committee work for the organization.

USCAP recognized his extraordinary contributions to the field of pathology with virtually every honor we present, starting with the Ramzi S. Cotran Young Investigator Award in 1997 and including Board’s Distinguished Pathologist Award in 2017, the President’s Award in 2019, and the F.K. Mostofi Distinguished Service Award in 2020. Dr. Fletcher also presented the 2008 Maude Abbott Lecture.

Perhaps most significant was his receipt of the 2014 Harvey Goldman Teaching Award. Dr. Fletcher was known throughout the pathology world for his dedication to young pathologists and their education. His residents and fellows can attest to his patience, humor, and support over their years of training.
